May 4, 2009, 19:19:52

His Highness Tsarevich and Grand Duke George Mikhailovich of Russia, the heir of Russian Imperial House, visited the Norilsk Cathedral in the name of the Icon "Consolation of All The Afflicted" during his working trip to Taimyr. Since December 2008, George is an aide to the Director General of MMC Norilsk Nickel in the European Union.

The Grand Duke prayed at the Divine Liturgy in the Norilsk cathedral's altar. With the blessing of Archbishop Anthony, at the church's entrance Tsarevich and his party were welcomed by archpriest Mikhail Grenadyorov, cathedral's senior priest and Taimyr church district's rural dean. Archpriest Mikhail gave the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop to His Highness George (at the moment, the archbishop is in his working trip to Khatanga village located beyond the Arctic Circle, 700 km north of Norilsk), reports parish's website.

Having venerated the church's shrines, the heir visited the Norilsk orthodox general education gymnasium. The honoured guests were welcomed by singing of the Paschal troparion "Christ is risen". Tsarevich went round the gymnasium and then held conversation with students and administration of the orthodox educational institution.

Clergy and parishioners of the Cathedral in the name of the "Consolation of All The Afflicted" Icon presented folding icons of the Savior and the Mother of God to His Imperial Highness. In his turn, the Grand Duke George informed the flock about the intention of Maria Vladimirovna, Grand Duchess of Russia, to visit Krasnoyarsk territory in future.
